Silvana Benacchio | Wistful Solace | 2023
Medium Used: Oil, Cold Wax
Dimensions: xx.0 cm (H), xx.0 cm (W).
ARTIST’S STATEMENT: I am a multi-disciplinary artist who explores the hidden worlds of disconnection and connection; within the natural world and also within myself, seeing the two concepts as intertwined. Through my work I highlight the imperative need to care for both ourselves and the environment.
The works here are part of a series I have been working on exploring my search for connection to my multi-cultural family, to country and to culture of which I have little knowledge: a feeling of floating in limbo, with no sure footed groundedness, nor sense of truly belonging anywhere.
These works are illustrating aspects of death and despair, yet also the healing and new growth that can result from it, if we allow it; forgiveness, courage, compassion, love, gratitude and peace. Seeking Home, seeking solace, seeking peace.
