Artist’s Statement:
The indigenous people of many lands and our nearest neighbour West Papua have much to teach us so we can respect and learn from others' cultures, especially with their understanding and affinity with nature, which much of the Western world has lost. We are living in a time of much fear and cynicism, and if we stop and learn to listen to others, there will be hope for our planet.
The devastation and colonialism that has taken place in West Papua is shocking, but they do not give up hope and continue to work through peaceful means toward justice. We can be inspired by their story and perseverance.
