Artist’s Statement:
This piece was made during a period of time when I was dealing with family breakdown due to domestic abuse. I found joy in focusing on wondrous subject matter and the cathartic process of working with clay. To me, this piece embodies a sense of growth, hope, and feminine power, a feeling which I gained myself in creating it.
Seeing the final piece and the captivation which it evokes in viewers has shown me what I was capable of, even when I felt trapped and powerless.
