We had a magical time at the opening last night!
Rev Fr Bob Maguire with a surprise effort, turned up early for the event, just before the last artwork was hung at 6.32pm, so we were running late.
Shortly after we started with a celebration of Fr Bob lighting the candle for our sacred art exhibition.
Cr Tim Baxter, Chair for the Multi-faith network of the City of Port Philip, formally opened the exhibition and we celebrated with drinks and champagne.
The following faith speakers, who were also exhibitors for the event, spoke on the importance of art for world peace: Kerrin Samuel, Justin – an indigenous speaker from Galliamble, Lloyd Godman and Jessiee Kaur Singh (President of COMMON and WIN) who did a multi-faith chant bringing us all together. Following Kerrin’s presentation platters of apple and honey were passed around to celebrate a fruitful Jewish New Year.
Renau Gay, a spiritual multi world musician from France, accompanied Aunty Jessiee’s chanting connecting all with his beautiful multi-cultural musical instruments.
We had a special night filled with a wonderful sharing of faith, belief, hope and multicultural foods that people brought from different countries to celebrate the UN International Day of Peace for 2017. We were truly blessed and touched by the experience of being there together.
